Colorado Community Media is seeking a news reporting intern. The position is a full-time paid internship, which runs for 10 weeks this summer. The intern will work with CCM reporters and editors on general assignments for the 25 news publications and websites in our network and will have the opportunity to contribute to in-depth reporting projects.
Compensation: $15 per hour, 40 hours per week, for 10 weeks
The intern will:
- Hit the ground running and get real-world experience in all aspects of news and features reporting, including source development, interviewing, multimedia storytelling and audience engagement.
- Gain experience working as a member of a news team with the opportunity to collaborate on reporting projects with seasoned editors and reporters.
- Learn the ins and outs of working for community newspapers by covering local events and reporting on a variety of issues from education to city government to business to breaking news.
Desired qualifications:
- Have at least junior status at a college or university and be pursuing a degree in journalism or a related field. (Dependent on experience, sophomores or other fields will be considered.)
- Possess strong writing skills
- Previous experience through another internship or campus media is ideal.
- Strong knowledge of AP style

The prep sports newsletter editor and reporter engages communities across Colorado Community Media’s coverage areas throughout Denver’s Front Range. The primary role is to report, write, take photos, edit, aggregate listings and oversee a small freelance budget to keep readers on top of relevant prep sports news and action for a weekly newsletter. The sports editor will also coordinate with regional editors on sports pages within our two dozen weekly print publications. The successful candidate will report to the editor-in-chief and publisher.
